Impressions

tanding 328 meters tall, the Sky Tower is the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. The observatory is 2 stories high.

Since the observatory is located in central Oakland, you can enjoy a 360 degrees’ panorama view of locations such as the Harbor Bridge, Devonport where many Victorian style buildings still stand, as well as Mount Eden.

The windows are slanted, which makes it easier to see the night view. With many benches in the facility, you can enjoy the night view while sitting down.

There are no security checks, and you are allowed to bring in tripods. When I visited this observatory for coverage on a weekday, there was no cue at the ticket booth, so I was able to arrive at the observatory about 5~7 minutes after purchasing my tickets.

Popular activities here include walking on the roof of the Sky Tower, or a bungee jump attraction called the “Sky Jump and Sky Walk”.

Note

Since the windows are slanted, you will need to make your tripod lean towards the window and take the photos. The lighting from ground level used to light up the Sky Tower makes taking photos at night difficult.
