Mt. Hakodate is one of the three major night views of the world as well as Hong-Kong and Naples, and also of the three major night-views of Japan. Its night view, which is to be seen from the top of the mountain as 333m above sea level, has really beautiful resonant scenery being congested with crescent shaped bay lighting, and counterpart mountain ridges.
The Scenic road of Mt. Hakodate only allows touring buses and taxies to use its access to the top of the mountain from dusk to closing time of the ropeway. Please use ropeway if you are a pedestrian or use a rental car.
From the time just after sunset when the night-view becomes its best outcome, the observation tower gets so crowded. You have to arrive there an hour earlier than sunset.
