This is a popular night view spot among locals, with many tripods lined up on weekends at dusk. From the observatory, you can view the entire city of Taipei with Taipei 101 in the center. With ample altitude, there is a spectacular view from here.

In the observatory, there is an area with beaches, and another observation area in the back. The back area is easier to take photos, and with less people, it is more suited for photographing.

You can get here by public transportation, but I chartered a taxi from Regent Taipei. The price was 500 yuan for one hour, so 1,000 yuan for 2 hours of chartered taxi (As of 2014).
