Srd Mountain has an average height of 412 meters. A panorama night view with the World Heritage, the “Old City of Dubrovnik” in the center can be seen from here.
There are 2 observation spots: The observatory at the ropeway platform, and the observation square with a white cross that Napoleon sent as a gift. The platform closes after the ropeway stops running, but the observation square is open 24 hours.
You can see the night view from the ropeway during May through October.
Since I visited this location in April, I rented a car at the airport. Although all the roads are paved, but because of the narrow road width, it is difficult to pass oncoming vehicles. There is quite a difference in level at the border line between paved roads and unpaved roads. If your car falls in here, it is difficult to get out unless you drive a SUV. Beware of such uneven roads, and lots of oncoming cars.
If you are renting a car, you need to be sure that you get a hold of a parking spot at your lodging place. There are no parking lots at hotels near the Old City of Dubrovnik.
So, I decided to stay at Hotel Rixos Libertas Dubrovnik, which is a 15-minute walk from the Old City. You could park at the complimentary parking within the hotel, or someplace nearby. I recommend this high-grade hotel with delicious breakfast buffet.
