Impressions

Naples, along with Hong Kong and Hakodate (Hokkaido), is one of the world’s best 3 night views. The yachts anchored at Mergellina Port, and the silhouette of Mount Vesuvius, create a radiant stereoscopic night scene, illuminating the entire city in warm orange lights.

You can get here by riding the subway and the cable car from Naples Central Station, but tourists rarely visit this hill since it is not mentioned in travel guides.

The cable car runs every 15 minutes. Get off at the first stop, S. Antonio, and climb up the stairs to get to ground level.
Upon climbing the trail for about a minute or two, you will see a yellow sign that says, “a posillipo,” and arrive at the Posillipo Square in approximately 30 seconds.

Surrounded by an upscale residential district, locals also visit this hill to enjoy the night view. It is usually safe there, except when it’s very late at night.

Note

The cable car stop is difficult to find, and it is recommended to visit the Posillipo Hill before dark.
